Naive Art in Slovakia

The Schaubmar Mill

Curator Katarína Čierna

Since 18 November 1997, the Gallery of Naive Art has been situated in Schaubmar Mill, a monument of culture and technology, built in Pezinok – Cajla in 1767. Administered by the Slovak National Gallery, it is the first unique gallery of its kind in Slovakia. The new exhibition highlights a representative selection of over 100 paintings and sculptures created by major Slovak naive artists from the collections of the Slovak National Gallery. A unique international collection of works of naive artists from Croatia, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, Brazil and other countries forms an integral part of this exhibition. The works on view created by untrained artists display authenticity, powerful imagination and creativity.
