Photoreport from the press conference Jindřich Štreit Photographs 1965-2005 Calendars for Jindra Štreita | Curator and his guest on the exhibition Jindřich Štreit Photographs 1965 - 2005
The significance of Jindřich Štreit, the leading figure of Czech photography, has long reached beyond the national framework. The artist’s work can be found in numerous major collections of photography (Museum of Modern Art, New York, Art Institute of Chicago, Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris and others). His collection of photographs from North Moravia is considered to be the “most detailed pictorial study of countryside at the time of real socialism” (Tomáš Pospěch).
The twin exhibition presents a survey of Štreit’s oeuvre in parallel with artistic interpretations of his photographs from wall calendars created by leading Czech and Slovak artists.
