Catalogue Autopoesis - on sale now 20. June 2006 - August 2006 Autopoesis During the summer you can visit an exhibition AUTOPOESIS which is on display in SNG, Esterhazy Palace. The catalogue AUTOPOESIS published for this exhibition you can buy in the SNG art shop or via internet (Publications section). The artist’s personality is the theme of the exhibition Autopoesis: the problems of his self-reflection, self-representation, self-construction and self-mythification, as well as self-denial and self-destruction. For in his creative act, more than in any other human endeavor, he bares himself in a unique and inimitable likeness of the universal “human condition”, a relationship of the human as being to the world around, and to himself as its integral component. Why Autopoesis? Because if “autos” is the Latin for “alone”, then the second part of this term, “poesis”/”poetics” indicates a matter of self-poeticization, or self-creation. The term “autopoesis” 1 is in this case a synonym for a conscious grasp and a creative work-up of an individual’s encounters and experience in the picture’s presentation of his own self. up | |
