Katarína Grossmannová (1954–2002) completed her studies at the Institute of Applied Arts in Cologne in 1991. She was engaged in painting on textile, particularly on silk, which attracted her by its delicacy and fineness. The artist drew on figurative motifs based on various historical periods and on the Bible (e. g. The Israelites Protecting Their Country against the Assyrians, 1999). Grossmannová was also inspired by the oeuvre of famous figures of modern art (Message for Chagall, 2001; Picassoesque Bouquet, 1995). She interpreted motifs derived from nature in abstract compositions. A relaxed style of painting and a generous use of colour brought her to almost Orphistic and fantastical creations. The ehibits on view display a selection from her oeuvre from 1996–2002.
